San Pedro de Atacama. Petite oasis perdue en plein desert, grouillante de restos, agences et hotels. Nous descendons du bus, 5 personnes nous agressent deja avec un prospectus de leur hotel. Nous suivons une nana un peu au pif. Finalement l´hotel est nikel : peu cher pour le chili (6000 pesos = 8 euros), douche chaude, dortoir correct qu´on partage avec un sympathique bresilien du nom dÚmberto, petit coin feu, cuisine et salon fort agreable et vue sur un immense volcan qui separe le Chili de la Bolivie...
Les rues sont animées par des serveurs harponnant une nouvelle fois la foule, il y a comme un air de village de vacances ici. Le cheval ou le velo restent les moyens de locomotions les plus populaires, les gens sont relax et seducteurs,o n se sent plutot bien a harpanter les trois rues sablées qui constituent le village alors que le meilleur reste a venir.
Mollement, nous nous informons sur les innombrables tours proposés par les incommensurables agences. On tombe sur la reincarnation de Jabba le Hutt version atacamienne, il tente de nous seduire sur sa formule desert de Tatio et lagunes dans le salar. On regarde quelques photos...du deja vu mais en mieux il y a quelques jours. Lassées des agences donc, nous constituons notre propre programme touristique.
Samedi : tour en VTT pour admirer la somptueuse Quebra del Diablo. Puissante et si peu touristique, quelle bonheur! Pour l´atteindre, on a quand meme du traverser LE rio en otant nos chaussures et en s´assurant de ne pas y laisser notre velo avec le courant. Cest ainsi que nous avons pu explorer les couloirs sinueux de ces blocs de sables (sans meme se perdre!). Halte au bord du rio pour un pique-nique ensoleillé puis direction la valle de la lune. Cet autre endroit est a voir au coucher du soleil. La vallée devoile alors toutes ses nuances rougeatres et les dunes, rochers et volcans nous font decoller a quelques lumieres de la realité. En parlant de realité tiens, l´allée a velo etait e-pui-sant. Un vent fort soufflait contre nous, on a bien failli perdre Dd maintes fois. Arrivées enfin au sommet de la Great dune, pfff...100 touristes armés de leur appareil photo gachent completement le paysage. Le retour fut pas moins cahotique. Bien qu´aillant le vent de notre coté cette fois ci, il arrive un moment, apres le coucher du soleil, qu´il n´y ait plus de soleil justement. Le gars de l´agence nous avait assurées que de nombreux cyclistes feraient le trajet avec chacun une lampe..cétaient plutot les phares des camions qui nous aveuglaient. Bref, tres belle aventure tout de meme. Le soir, nous retournons dans un ptit resto sympa pour deguster de la bonne viande chilienne autour d´un feu, un ptit regal...
Dimanche : Reveil difficile pour se retrouver a 10h sur un cheval! Direction les sommets dominants la vallee de la muerte et Cartape. Grandiose meme si ce fut un peu long par moment car notre cow girl n´a pas voulu qu´on galope ou meme qu´on trotte....grrr! Au retour, nous avons descendu une immense dune de sable gris avec nos chevaux a nos coté. Une belle sensation de liberté alors nous a envahies. Vers 15h, nous rejoignons la civilisation pour se debarrasser de toute la poussiere et du sable accumulés ces dernieres heures. Le soir nous mangeons des sushis. Oui oui, j´ai bien dit sushis, au milieu du desert. Et meme qu´ils etaient tres bons.
Lundi : Rien. c´est bien aussi de se reposer!
Voilá pour Atacama. Endroit magique qui m´a personnellement envoutée par son décor surrealiste.
Vous vous demandez peut etre si les guignolettes ont encore frappé? Affirmatif. Evidement! Qu´est ce que vous croyiez?
Bon, il passe 3 bus pour Salta (Argentine) par semaine, notre prochaine destination. Donc des le premier jour, sagement, nous nous dirigeons vers l´agence qui vend ces precieux billets. Sauf que sans nos passeports, nous pouvons que faire une reservation. Dociles, nous revenons le lendemain a l´heure qu´elle nous a indiqué pour effectuer le reglement. Elle n´a pas le temps, elle doit se rendre a l´hopital. Nous revenons donc comme conclu dans l´apres midi avant de reprendre le guidon vers la vallee de la lune. Un mot sur la porte indique qu´elle sera la de 16h45 a 18h. evidement pile poil au moment ou on se voyait appeler Houston du haut de notre dune. On decide de revenir le lendemain, tant pis. Sauf que le lendemain, cette %$"*=//, elle nous declare qu´elle vient de vendre les derniers billets a l´instant car nous n´etions pas venues! Hem. Restons sereines avant de commettre un meurtre. Apres quelques mures relfexions, c´est decidé : nous partons demain pour Santiago (a quelques 20h de bus d´ici) pour atteindre l´Argentine par Mendoza et sa fameuse route des vins.
Adieu Salta, bonjour les vignes, les forets et LE PLUS HAUT VOLCAN DAMERIQUE : 6699m (qqchose comme ca).
